Our Mission

Our mission is centered around three core pillars:

Facilitating the careers of Black and brown professionals in the hedge fund industry through networking and career advancement opportunities.

Driving the pipeline of new Black and brown entrants into the hedge fund industry through outreach and education.

Engaging with industry leaders and HR professionals to facilitate the sharing of insights and best practices to hire, retain and promote Black and brown employees.

Our History

In October 2019, an intimate group of approximately 20 Black hedge fund professionals met over dinner and drinks in Midtown NYC. Many had crossed paths over the years at conferences and various industry events, and we gathered with the goal of reconnecting with old contacts and making new connections. The strong sense of community that exuded from this small gathering led to a second event of a similar size in January 2020.

In the months to follow, amid the confluence of the Covid-19 pandemic and George Floyd’s murder, and the ensuing re-examination of DEI efforts across various industries, the founding members of the group felt a necessity to revisit our vision for the group beyond networking. Starting with the appointment of our Board of Directors, we crafted a purpose tied to the current pillars of the group: to support the careers of existing diverse hedge fund and financial services professionals, engage and draw new entrants into the industry, and provide insights and best practices for firms seeking to hire, retain and promote diverse talent. Today, we represent a nationwide group of over 400 members, drawn from all corners of the hedge fund and financial services industry, who share a common vision of supporting diverse professionals and firms seeking to engender an equitable and inclusive culture.
